D’Tigress WNBA Tour: A Long-term Investment for Nigeria

Ugo Udezue, the chairman of the market sponsorship committee of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), emphasized that the D’Tigress WNBA tour represents a long-term investment in the Nigerian women's national basketball team. The tour will conclude with a game against the Portland Fire on May 3, following matches against the Los Angeles Sparks on April 25 and April 27, where the team lost 89-63 and 88-79, respectively.

Udezue noted that the NBBF is focused on the growth and exposure of the team, aiming to identify the next generation of leaders in Nigerian basketball. He highlighted the importance of balancing experienced players with emerging talent, especially as the team prepares for the 2026 FIBA World Cup in Germany.

Coach Rena Wakama is working on transitioning new young players into the squad, which currently features a high number of players over 30, including Sarah Ogok, who has been with the team for 13 years and retired in February.
