Political Rift in Nasarawa Over Governor's Endorsement

A political conflict has arisen within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State following Governor Abdullahi Sule's endorsement of Aliyu Wadada as his preferred successor for the 2027 governorship election. This move has been met with criticism from former Governor Umar Tanko Al-Makura, who expressed disappointment over the lack of consultation and deemed the endorsement premature.

Al-Makura warned that such early pronouncements could undermine due process within the party. The APC has not yet commenced the sale of nomination forms, and Al-Makura's camp views Sule's endorsement as jumping the gun.

Former Inspector General of Police Muhammad Adamu, who is also vying for the APC ticket, rejected Sule's endorsement, asserting that the governor cannot impose a candidate on the party and vowed to challenge Wadada in the primaries. Sule's camp defended the endorsement, citing established political traditions in the state, while Wadada called for calm and unity within the party, emphasizing that the contest is a normal political process.
