NCDC Confirms Six Contacts Clear Quarantine After Ebola Case

Six individuals who were in contact with a confirmed Ebola case in Nigeria are set to leave the quarantine facility on Sunday after completing a mandatory 21-day monitoring period without showing any symptoms of the disease. Dr Odianosen Ehiakhamen, the Incident Manager for Ebola at the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), announced this on Saturday during an interview with NTA News.
The individuals include two domestic staff and the driver of the index case. Nigeria reported its first imported case of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) on October 20, 2026, involving a 42-year-old woman who arrived in Abuja from Uganda.
Following her diagnosis with the Bundibugyo strain of the virus, she was evacuated to Switzerland for further medical care. In response, the NCDC, in collaboration with relevant health authorities, implemented intensified contact tracing, surveillance, and isolation measures to prevent further transmission of the virus.
