Oyo State Government Assures Residents on Ebola Safety

The Oyo State Government has assured residents of their safety regarding the potential threat of Ebola virus disease, following confirmed cases in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. Dr.

Oluwaserimi Ajetunmobi, the state health commissioner, stated that although Nigeria has not recorded any cases, the government is closely monitoring developments and has activated necessary measures to safeguard public health. The statement was made available to newsmen in Ibadan by Princ Dotun Oyelad.

Ajetunmobi emphasized that the administration led by Governor Seyi Makinde prioritizes public health security and has strengthened disease surveillance across all 33 local government areas. Healthcare facilities are on heightened alert, and a rapid response team is in place to manage any suspected cases.

Ajetunmobi urged residents to remain vigilant and report any symptoms such as sudden fever, vomiting, or unexplained bleeding. Currently, there are no confirmed cases of Ebola in Oyo State, and residents are advised not to panic.
