Nwifuru's L-PRES Project in Ebonyi to Generate 2,000 Jobs

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru stated that the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) facility in Izhiangbo, Ebonyi State, is projected to create about 2,000 jobs once completed. Nwifuru made this announcement following an inspection of the 295-hectare site on a Monday.

The facility, which was previously a 60-year-old abandoned veterinary center, is being reconstructed to fulfill modern veterinary education, animal health, and agricultural requirements. The project will include a veterinary college, modern abattoirs, a hospital, grazing reserves for around 2,000 herders, and farming areas for piggery and other ruminants.

Contracts for the construction of the first 27 of the planned 86 buildings, including administrative blocks and hostels, have been awarded, with construction already underway. Although rainy season has slowed some aspects, full construction is expected to resume in November, with many buildings anticipated to be completed by December.

Nwifuru encouraged local residents to take ownership of the project and protect the facilities.
