Ebonyi NGO Hosts Cultural Carnival to Revive Igbo Heritage

The Ik Elechi Ogba Foundation organized a cultural carnival in Ebonyi State to promote and revive Igbo heritage. The event took place at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Hall at Ebonyi State University in Abakaliki.

It included the launch of a book titled "Echo of the Regal Throne." The foundation's deputy vice chancellor, Prof. Ik Elechi Ogba, initiated the program to showcase African and Nigerian heritage, focusing particularly on the culture of Ebonyi State.

The event aimed to reconnect society with its roots and counter the gradual erosion of indigenous values. Prominent stakeholders attended, including Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, former governor Sam Egwu, and Prof.

Grace Umezuruike, the state government's secretary. Governor Nwifuru reaffirmed his administration's commitment to preserving the Igbo language and culture, expressing concern over attacks on traditional rulers and stressing the need to protect cultural heritage and property.
