ECCIMA to Upgrade Enugu Trade Fair Complex Amid Inaction

The Enugu State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), led by Sir Odeiga Jideonwo, is set to upgrade the Enugu International Trade Fair Complex, responding to the federal government's failure to complete the project since 1999. The initiative includes constructing a 3,000sqm premium exhibition and convention hall, which will cost half a billion naira and will be fully financed through ECCIMA's internal revenue and voluntary contributions from its members.

The foundation-laying ceremony is scheduled for April 4, 2024, during the opening of the 35th Enugu International Trade Fair. Sir Jideonwo emphasized the need for infrastructural development to enhance the capacity of the private sector in the region.

He also appealed to the Enugu State government, led by Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for support in installing air conditioning and landscaping around the new hall ahead of the 37th Enugu International Trade Fair, scheduled for March 21-30, 2026.
