ECNBA Announces Final Candidates for 2026 Elections

The Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) has released the final list of candidates for the 2026 national elections following the resolution of appeals by the National Office Election Appeal Committee (NOEAC). The committee confirmed that two appeals were upheld in favor of candidates Bulu Yohanna and Atsen Fsi Onimisi, while Fridai Umar will also contest from the northern zone for a position on the General Council of the Bar.

The final list indicates that the major national office contests remain largely unchanged, with three candidates expected to return unopposed for the positions of NBA President, First Vice President, and Second Vice President. Nuhu John Egya and Iren Iniobong are among the candidates for the Second Vice President, while Esther Ifeoma Jimoh is set to be the unopposed Treasurer.

The race is competitive for the positions of six candidates vying for the General Secretary, seven for Assistant General Secretary, five for Welfare Secretary, two for Public Secretary, and four for Assistant Public Secretary. The number of candidates from the northern zone has increased from five to seven following successful appeals.
