ECOWAS Launches Ambulance Initiative in Togo

The initiative, supported by WAHO and UNOPS, aims to strengthen health systems and improve access to emergency care across ECOWAS member states.

Dr Touray expressed gratitude to Mr Faure Gnassingbe, President of the Togolese Republic, for the warm welcome. Ms. Tchintchibidja, Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, acknowledged the significance of the event as one of the Commission's final acts during her term.

Dr Aïssi emphasized the importance of effective management and qualified personnel for the ambulances to enhance regional health resilience. Mr Kossi Edjam from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies expressed appreciation for the initiative and commitment to training hospital staff in ambulance use.
