Festus Ebea and Governor Mondai Okpebholo, where it was alleged that Ebea was directed to step down in favor of Ojiezel's endorsement for a third term. However, no official evidence supports this claim, and the governor's office has not issued any statements regarding the matter.

Additionally, Ojiezel's political history includes a defection from the PDP to the APC in late 2024 and a three-month suspension from the Edo State House of Assembly in January 2024 for allegedly inciting disunity among members.
