Constituents Protest Against Edo Deputy Speaker's Re-election

Constituents in Orhionmwon East have rejected the re-election bid of Osamwonyi Atu, the Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, due to a prolonged 15-year power outage and unfulfilled campaign promises. Youth from the area staged a protest at the Abudu administrative headquarters, expressing their dissatisfaction with Atu's performance and accusing him of neglecting critical issues affecting the constituency, including the failure to complete a comprehensive school project.

The protest coincided with the launch of Atu's re-election campaign. In response, Atu dismissed the allegations, attributing the protest to individuals affected by the state's recent anti-cultism law.

Martin Ozakpolor, who coordinated the campaign, alleged that the protest was sponsored by rival aspirants seeking to discredit Atu. Despite the protest, Atu received support from the Abudu Elder Council, who offered prayers for his re-election success.
