Edo Cattle Dealers Association Removes Officials Over Fraud

The Edo Cattle Dealers Association held a trustee meeting on April 25, 2026, where members voted to remove Jidda Tahir and Ibrahim Shariff from their positions as chairman and secretary, respectively, due to allegations of N116 million fraud. The former officials were accused of neglecting issues affecting the association and failing to pay N35 million owed to a company owned by Barrister Dele Edokpayi.

Following their removal, Adano described the allegations as an attempt by individuals to create division and instability within the association. A statement jointly signed by Adano and the association's secretary, Adam Gomb, claimed that the vote to remove the officials was passed in confidence.

However, counsel for the association, Ejiga Paul Enemona, warned that the removal of the officials was not in line with the association's constitution and cautioned that they should not continue to present themselves as leaders of the union. Enemona also indicated that the association would apply to the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for formal recognition of the removals.
