Edo Ex-Convict Arrested for Armed Robbery and Gun Possession

Owen Osa, a 45-year-old ex-convict, was arrested by the Edo State Security Corps on May 3 for armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm. The arrest occurred during covert operations along Fishpond Road in the Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State.

Security sources reported that Osa was found in possession of a cut-size single barrel gun at the time of his arrest. He confessed to the crime and admitted to being a member of the Eiye confraternity.

The arrest followed a recent robbery incident where a victim, Reginia Izi, identified Osa as the assailant. Osa allegedly approached residents around 8 PM, pretending to be familiar with them before carrying out the attack.

Deputy Commanding Officer Richard Balogun stated that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements, involving both overt patrols and covert strategies.
