Edo PDP rejects outcome of by-elections, declares it embarrassment to democracy

The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the outcome of the by-elections held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, declaring it an embarrassment to democracy. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winners of the Senatorial and House of Representatives seats.

The PDP criticized the conduct of the election, stating that INEC's lack of competence, neutrality, and moral standing led to a compromised process. The party accused INEC of hiding glitches and malfunctions, which they believe allowed the APC to gain an unfair advantage.
