Edo Senator Supports Speedy Trials for Kidnappers

Senator Joseph Ikpea, representing Edo Central in the National Assembly, expressed his support for Governor Mondai Okpebholo's proposal to ensure the speedy trial of kidnappers and cultists in Edo State. This statement was made on Friday in Ewatto, Esan South East Local Government Area.

Ikpea commended the governor for the recent crackdown on kidnapping syndicates, particularly referencing the rescue of a woman kidnapped from a popular vegetable market in Benin City on Sunday. The Edo State Police Command, in collaboration with Governor Okpebholo, arrested members of the gang involved in this incident.

The governor has also promised to establish a special court to conclude trials of suspects within two weeks and has indicated a willingness to sign death warrants for those convicted. Ikpea reaffirmed his commitment to work with the state government to ensure the safety of Edo Central and called on residents to take civic responsibility in securing the state.
