Osifo Resigns as Edo Water Resources Commissioner to Run

Dr. Washington Osifo, the immediate past Commissioner for Water Resources in Edo State, announced his resignation to comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He explained that his decision was influenced by the release of the timetable for party primaries by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), scheduled for April 22 to May 20, 2026. Osifo expressed his intent to contest for the Orhionmwon/Uhunmwod Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

During a visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Edo State Council, he described his three-time service in the state cabinet as a privilege and an opportunity to contribute to governance. He emphasized his desire to embrace new challenges at the national level and to engage with constituents without violating statutory requirements.

Osifo aims to provide fresh solutions to emerging issues as he seeks to move to a higher political platform.
