EFCC Charges Chukwuebuka Ogbonna with N15.4m Fraud

Chukwuebuka Anacletu Ogbonna was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) before Justice Vincent C. Ezeugwu at the Enugu State High Court on charges of fraud totaling N15.4 million.

The charges include four counts of stealing and fraudulent conversion of funds, specifically involving N4 million for the purchase of vehicles from Mr. Paulson Nwakobi.

The alleged offenses occurred within the jurisdiction of the Enugu State High Court, with the first charge dated back to September 2023 and the subsequent charges occurring between November 28 and December 10, 2023. Ogbonna pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The EFCC's Assistant Commander II, Rotimi Ajobiew, represented the commission in court. The defendant was remanded in custody at the Nigerian Correctional Service in Enugu, with the matter adjourned to July 16, 2026, for a hearing on the bail application.

The allegations stem from a claim that Ogbonna failed to deliver three cars after receiving payment in October 2023.
