EFCC Charges Two Over $15,000 FCMB Credential Deal

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned Gideon Bakpa Aghogho and Oscar Ebere Chukwuebuka in connection with the alleged unlawful disclosure of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) access credentials for $15,000. The defendants appeared before Justice F.N.

Ogazi at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday. They were charged alongside an individual named Scott, who is currently at large, on eight counts related to the unauthorized supply of access credentials to FCMB’s database.

The EFCC claims that the actions of the defendants violated Sections 27 and 28(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act 2015, as amended in 2024. Aghogho allegedly disclosed FCMB’s server IP address and domain credentials without authorization.

Aghogho pleaded not guilty, while Chukwuebuka pleaded guilty. Following Aghogho's plea, the EFCC requested a trial date, and the court adjourned the case until August 27, 2026, for a review of the facts and further proceedings, remanding both defendants in a correctional facility.
