EFCC arraigns Ngige over contract fraud and gratification charges

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned former Anambra State Governor Ngige on eight counts of contract fraud and gratification in the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja. Ngige is accused of using his positions to confer undue advantages and award multiple contracts to companies linked to him.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges. Ngige's residence was reportedly raided by EFCC operatives, leading to his removal by force.

Despite planning a medical trip to the United States, he lost his passport and had to return to Abuja. Ngige is yet to submit an explanation for the lost passport to the EFCC.
