EFCC Denies Involvement in Kwara Polytechnic Protest

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) denied any involvement in a recent protest at Kwara State Polytechnic, stating that their operations in Ilorin were not connected to activities within the institution. This statement followed significant public backlash after a protest erupted, reportedly triggered by a video suggesting EFCC operatives had entered the school premises.

The EFCC clarified that their sting operation on March 24, 2026, targeted two buildings linked to internet fraudsters, resulting in the arrest of 30 suspects, including six students. The commission emphasized that no entry was made into the school and that their actions were lawful.

However, social media users, including Adexcollection52, questioned the EFCC's account, alleging that arrests were made near the polytechnic. Critics like Abdulbasit Opeyemi and Adeola accused the agency of misconduct and diverting attention from broader national security issues.

Despite the backlash, the EFCC urged the public to report any verified misconduct through official channels.
