Sowore Criticizes EFCC as Joblessness Symbol

Omoyele Sowore, the president of the African Action Congress (AAC), expressed strong criticism of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), declaring it has become a "symbol of joblessness and misplaced priorities." His comments came in response to the EFCC's invitation to activists Peter Akah and Precious Oruch, also known as Mama Pee, for clarification regarding allegations of abuse of naira. Sowore stated that the EFCC appears to be increasingly focused on pursuing easier targets rather than addressing significant economic and financial crimes.

He emphasized that the agency should concentrate on combating grand corruption, public asset theft, money laundering, procurement fraud, and the looting of public resources. Sowore's remarks suggest that the EFCC's current trajectory undermines public confidence in its mission, leading him to conclude that the agency is "finished.".
