EFCC Re-arraigns Chimaobi and Chinedu for N78.3M Theft

The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) re-arraigned Blessing Onyinaya Chimaobi and Uzofor Benson Chinedu on October 29, 2026, before Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos. They are accused of stealing N78,347,100 from Christopher Onuigbo.
Initially arraigned on February 7, 2024, on a three-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, the prosecution amended the charges to 20 counts. The first count alleges that Chimaobi, Chinedu, and an accomplice, Olisa Charles (who is at large), conspired to defraud Onuigbo in 2023.
Another count accuses them of dishonestly converting the same amount, belonging to Onuigbo, for their own use between 2018 and 2023. Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Following their pleas, prosecution counsel T.J. Banjo requested the court to revoke their bail and remand them in a correctional facility.
