EFCC Returns N387m to Jigawa State from Fraudsters

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) returned N387,483,488 to the Jigawa State government, which was recovered from fraudsters after an investigation into the alleged diversion of public funds. The return of the funds occurred on Tuesday, with Muhammad Haruna, the EFCC's Kano Zonal Director, overseeing the handover.

The investigation was initiated following intelligence from the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) that flagged suspicious transactions linked to the misappropriation involving two individuals: Abdullahi Garba and Ayuba Sani. Abdullahi Garba pleaded guilty to the charges and was subsequently convicted, receiving a two-year prison sentence.
