EFCC Recovers N387m for Jigawa State from Fraudsters

On Tuesday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) handed over a total of N387,483,488.00 to the Jigawa State government, recovered from fraudulent activities. The funds were presented by the Kano Zonal Director of the EFCC, alongside the Director of Treasury Operations for Jigawa State, Muhammad Haruna, during a ceremony at the EFCC Kano office.

The recovery followed an investigation initiated based on intelligence from the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), which flagged allegations of misappropriation of public funds involving two individuals, Abdullahi Garba and Ayuba Sani. Abdullahi Garba has been convicted and sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to the misappropriation of public funds.

Ayuba Sani is currently standing trial. The EFCC's spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, emphasized the agency's commitment to justice and the recovery of funds meant for public development, ensuring that such funds are not diverted for personal use.
