Egbin Power, FIPL Launch Academy for Young Engineers

Egbin Power and FIPL have launched an academy designed to train the next generation of engineers in Nigeria. The program will admit 50 graduate engineers for a rigorous ten-month training that combines classroom learning with hands-on technical exposure at major power generation facilities, including Egbin Power.

Participants will receive practical training in plant operation and maintenance, focusing on industry best practices to prepare them for careers in the electricity sector. A significant emphasis will be placed on safety training, with mandatory modules covering industry regulations and safe work procedures.

The program aims to instill a strong safety culture among trainees and includes scenario-based exercises to prepare them for real-world industry challenges. Graduates will be deployed across Sahara Power Group's operations, including Egbin Power and FIPL's upstream energy business, contributing to the broader Nigerian labor market.

Kola Adesina, Group Managing Director of Sahara Power Group, described the academy as a strategic investment in Nigeria's future, addressing the technical manpower needs within the electricity sector.
