Egypt Wins 2026 African Women’s Volleyball Championship

Egypt claimed the 2026 Women’s African Volleyball Championship title, defeating hosts Kenya 3-0 in the final held at the Kasarani Arena on Friday. The set scores were 25-21, 25-15, and 25-15, marking Egypt's fourth continental crown and ending a 23-year wait for the title.

This victory also secured Africa’s qualification ticket for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Egypt's previous championships were in 1976, 1989, and 2003.

The Egyptian team established control early in the match, with Kenya struggling to cope with their intensity. The final was attended by notable figures, including FIVB President Fabio Azevedo and CAVB President Bouchra Hajij, who is also an FIVB vice-president.

Egypt's Ambassador to Kenya, Hatem Yousry, was present during the celebrations. In the third-place match, Cameroon defeated Rwanda 3-0, further solidifying their status as a leading women’s volleyball nation in Africa.

The championship took place from August 23 to September 5, featuring 16 national teams.
