Nigeria Secures Historic Beach Volleyball Olympic Spot

The Nigeria Volleyball Federation, led by President Musa Nimrod, celebrated Nigeria's historic qualification for the beach volleyball event at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games after the women's team defeated Morocco 2-0 (21-17, 21-10) in the final of the 2026 African Beach Volleyball Nations Championship held in Alexandria, Egypt, on Saturday. Nimrod expressed gratitude to Nigerians and attributed the victory to divine intervention, marking the federation's fourth attempt at the finals, having previously finished second three times.

He acknowledged the support from the National Sports Commission and the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi. Bukola Olopade, the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, commended the Nigeria Volleyball Federation for its effective collaboration and leadership, emphasizing the potential for Nigeria to produce world-class athletes in volleyball and beach volleyball.

The players were recognized as the true heroes of this achievement, delivering a commanding performance to secure Nigeria's first-ever Olympic qualification in beach volleyball.
