DICON Partners with EIB Group to Boost Defense Tech

The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bright Echefu's EIB Group, which includes Briech UAS and Poctova, at DICON headquarters in Kaduna. This partnership aims to build a technology-driven defense industry in Nigeria, focusing on the domestic production of unmanned aerial systems (UAS), tactical drones, ballistic protective equipment, military uniforms, high-grade explosives, and security software-driven intelligence systems.

Major General Babatunde Ibrahim Alaya, Director General of DICON, described the agreement as transformative, enabling DICON to act under the DICON Act 2023 and support private sector collaboration. The partnership includes full technology transfer and aims to eliminate reliance on foreign technology, enhancing Nigeria's defense sovereignty.

The initiative is expected to stimulate economic growth, create a network of local suppliers, and integrate small and medium-sized enterprises into the defense value chain. The agreement also includes skill transfer programs to train Nigerian engineers in critical areas of modern warfare.
