FG Offers 50% Train Fare Discount for Eid-el-Kabir

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a 50% fare reduction on train services operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to support citizens during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. This discount will be effective from Tuesday, May 26, 2026, to Monday, June 1, 2026.

The announcement was made by Funsho Adebiyi, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport. The initiative aims to alleviate the rising travel costs during the festive season and is part of the government's efforts to make transportation more affordable for Nigerians.

Passengers who have already purchased tickets at the old rate will receive a rebate equivalent to 50% of the ticket cost, which can be used for train rides until June 1, 2026. Despite the fare reduction, the train schedule will remain unchanged throughout the festive period.

The Federal Ministry of Transport expressed appreciation for the continued support of Nigerians for the rail transport system and extended goodwill messages to the Muslim community across the country.
