Ram Prices Surge Ahead of Eid-el-Kabir in Kaduna

In Kaduna State, ram prices have surged significantly in anticipation of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, according to a market survey conducted by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). Despite the availability of rams, buyers are hesitant due to high prices.

Small rams are priced between N150,000 and N250,000, while medium to large rams range from N300,000 to N1 million, depending on breed and size. Abdulrahman Usman, a buyer at Zango market, expressed concern over the unaffordability of these prices compared to previous years.

Ibrahim Lawal, a civil servant, mentioned postponing his ram purchase due to the economic situation. Alhaji Suleiman Adamu, a livestock dealer, attributed the price hike to increased transport and feed costs, as well as insecurity affecting livestock supply routes.

Additionally, Bilyaminu Musa, a trader, noted that he brought 40 rams from Niger, with 14 already sold, and indicated that prices for the smallest and largest rams are N350,000 and N700,000, respectively.
