Ekiti State Council Allocates N10bn for Healthcare and Infrastructure

The Ekiti State Executive Council has approved over N10 billion for the construction of various projects, including hospital buildings, solar-powered water projects, and roads in different communities, as well as an airport project. Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, stated that these approvals are part of several policy initiatives aimed at strengthening governance and advancing sustainable socio-economic development.

The council approved N6.765 billion for new hospital buildings at General Hospitals in Ikogosi-Ekiti, Awo-Ekiti, and Ipao-Ekiti, with each project receiving N2.255 billion. These hospitals will include essential facilities such as wards, a mortuary, maternity suite, and staff quarters, expected to be completed within 10 months.

Additionally, N1.681 billion was allocated for upgrading 104 high-yielding boreholes across local government areas. The initiatives reflect the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji's commitment to improving public infrastructure and healthcare access in Ekiti State.
