Ekiti State Disburses N680M to Disaster Victims

On Thursday, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State revealed that his administration has allocated N680 million over the past two years to assist victims of fire and rainstorm disasters. This funding is part of welfare and social intervention programs aimed at helping vulnerable residents who have experienced sudden losses.

During a distribution event, where N40 million in cheques and food items were given to victims from various local government areas, Oyebanji, represented by Deputy Governor Chief Monisade Afuye, emphasized the importance of taking precautionary measures against disasters. He noted that N205 million was allocated to fire disaster victims, while N436 million was directed towards rainstorm victims.

The governor reiterated the government's commitment to supporting affected individuals and urged residents to remain vigilant, especially during the rainy season, to avoid risks associated with indiscriminate construction and improper handling of electrical appliances.
