Fake Doctor Sentenced to Death for Murder in Ekiti

On June 24, 2019, an Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti sentenced Olatid Emmanuel, a quack nurse, to death by hanging for the murder of a 48-year-old woman, Bosed Falad. Emmanuel was charged with two counts: murder and impersonation.

The incident occurred on June 9, 2019, at Ajebamidel Street, Otun Ekiti, where the deceased's husband reported that his wife died during childbirth. Rev.

Omotad, who examined the body at the hospital, discovered that Emmanuel, who falsely claimed to be a medical doctor, had conducted an unprofessional operation. The prosecution, led by Kunle Shina Adeyemo, presented seven witnesses and various exhibits, including medical reports and photographs.

Emmanuel's defense counsel, Adeyinka Opalek, did not call any witnesses. Justice Jubril Aladejana concluded that Emmanuel's actions were recklessly wicked, leading to the woman's death, and found him guilty beyond reasonable doubt.
