Ekiti State Government Empowers 100 Persons with Disabilities

The Ekiti State Government has empowered 100 persons with disabilities (PWDs) by providing them with trade and work tools following their graduation from a skills acquisition training program. Governor Biodun Oyebanji, represented by Chief of Staff Oyeniyi Adebayo, spoke during the graduation and empowerment ceremony held in Ado Ekiti.
The program, organized by the Office of Disability Affairs in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion, trained beneficiaries in various vocational skills such as Information and Communication Technology, tailoring, hairdressing, shoemaking, catering, and hospitality. Each graduate received essential equipment, including sewing machines and ICT tools, to support their new skills.
Oyebanji highlighted the administration's commitment to building a society where PWDs can access opportunities and contribute to state development. Special Adviser Adetoun Agboola noted the program's growth, starting with 30 participants in 2023 and expanding to 100 in 2026, reflecting the government's dedication to creating opportunities for PWDs.
