Ekiti State Expands Reproductive Healthcare Access

The Ekiti State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to improving access to comprehensive reproductive health services for women and girls. Dr Oyebanji Filani, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, emphasized that training health workers is crucial for enhancing health outcomes and achieving Universal Health Coverage.

He spoke during the closing ceremony of a five-day training program for healthcare providers, organized in collaboration with Onelife Initiative, held in Ado Ekiti. Filani stated that the partnership aims to strengthen service delivery, ensuring women receive quality information and services for informed health decisions.

He highlighted the administration's commitment to providing every woman, regardless of age or background, with accurate information and respectful care. Dr Abayomi Ibrahim, Director of Public Health, noted that the training included doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, focusing on modern methods for reproductive health services.

Mr Sola Fagorusi, Executive Director of Onelife Initiative, praised the government's commitment and pledged to expand the program across all 16 local government areas. The training also aims to reduce maternal deaths linked to unsafe abortions.
