INEC Assures Credible Poll for Ekiti Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured voters in Ekiti State of its readiness to conduct a credible governorship election. Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Ekiti State, stated that necessary preparations are underway, including the deployment of personnel and materials to 2,445 polling units.

Voting is scheduled to commence at 8:30 AM. INEC has engaged thousands of ad hoc staff and is collaborating closely with security agencies to ensure a peaceful electoral process.

Omoseyindemi expressed concerns about the challenges posed by fake news, which he identified as a major threat to voter confidence. He emphasized the need for sustained voter education to change public attitudes towards the electoral process.

INEC has also introduced measures to improve logistics for the election, including the identification of transport requirements for reaching difficult terrains. The commission is committed to transparency and credibility in the electoral process, urging citizens to trust the system.
