SDP Confirms Candidacy for Ekiti Governorship Election

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has officially refuted allegations that it has withdrawn from the Ekiti State governorship election set for June 20, 2026. In a statement released by the party's spokesperson, the claims were described as false and misleading, urging both party members and the general public to disregard them.

The party reassured that its chairman, Prof. Sadiq Umar Abubakar, and the National Working Committee (NWC) have validated Ambassador Isaac Adebayo Alad as the party's candidate, recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The SDP emphasized its commitment to a credible electoral process and condemned the misinformation attributed to political jobbers. The party also highlighted its efforts to ensure that its agents are properly recognized in the electoral process, asserting that it will not accept any disenfranchisement orchestrated by opposing parties, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC).
