SDP Denies Endorsement of APC Candidate in Osun

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has refuted claims that its Osun State chapter has collapsed its structure to support All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Mr. Bola Oyebamiji ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

This denial follows a letter from factional Osun SDP Chairman Mr. Remi Omidire, which allegedly adopted Oyebamiji for the election and was addressed to APC State Chairman Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos, SDP State Chairmen in Nigeria Chairman Mr. Femi Olaniyi (Ferrari) asserted that the Osun chapter remains intact and has not endorsed any political party or candidate.

Olaniyi described the letter purportedly signed by Omidire as false and not representative of the authentic leadership of the party, which is led by Mr. Funsho Fabiyi.

He emphasized that the SDP has not collapsed its structure nor entered into any alliance with the APC, reiterating the party's commitment to contesting the governorship election and warning against the spread of false information.
