Ekiti REC Ensures Transparency for June 20 Election

Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ekiti State, has committed to ensuring transparency in the governorship election set for June 20. During a visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Ekiti State Council, led by Chairman Comrade Kayod Babatuyi, Dr. Omoseyindemi urged journalists to avoid misinformation and sensationalism, highlighting the importance of credible media in a successful democracy.

He stated that without accurate information, citizens cannot make informed decisions. The REC commended the NUJ for promoting responsible journalism and civic engagement.

He assured that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is dedicated to transparency and will provide accurate information in adherence to electoral regulations. Comrade Babatuyi emphasized the symbiotic relationship between INEC and the media, pledging NUJ's support for credible and fair elections in Ekiti State.

He also noted the importance of accrediting journalists to properly monitor and verify electoral activities.
