INEC Calls for Stakeholder Collaboration Ahead of Ekiti Poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is actively pursuing stakeholder collaboration to ensure a credible and peaceful governorship election in Ekiti State, scheduled for June 20. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, an INEC official, emphasized the importance of cooperation among stakeholders during a sensitization workshop aimed at risk management.

The workshop focused on educating political actors about the electoral act and INEC guidelines, urging them to conduct their activities peacefully and avoid incitement to violence. Omoseyindemi highlighted that the success of the electoral process largely depends on the commitment and understanding of all stakeholders involved.

The workshop included participants from civil society organizations, the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies. Key risks identified included logistical challenges, security concerns, misinformation, and voter apathy.

Omoseyindemi noted that these risks are manageable through proactive collaboration and adherence to electoral guidelines, stressing the need for stakeholders to work together to reflect the will of the people in the electoral outcome.
