Tragic Stampede at Ekiti University Post-Convocation Party

The Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology in Iker Ekiti is mourning the loss of three individuals following a stampede that occurred during a post-convocation party at Emir Hotel. The incident took place on a Saturday night after the university's second convocation ceremony.

Mr. Funmilola Adeusi, the registrar, expressed deep regret over the deaths of two graduating students and confirmed that the tragic incident occurred after a fight broke out at the venue, leading to the stampede.

The university emphasized that the convocation itself was conducted peacefully and without disruption. The state police command has initiated a preliminary investigation into the incident, which occurred around 1 AM on Sunday.

The university community is in mourning, and condolences have been extended to the families and friends of the deceased.
