El-Rufai's Bail Terms Deemed Unviable by His Wife

Asiya El-Rufai, the wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, expressed concerns regarding the bail conditions set for her husband, which she described as unviable. The Federal High Court in Kaduna granted Nasir El-Rufai bail under the condition of providing two sureties and property valued at N200 million.

However, Asiya El-Rufai stated that meeting these bail conditions has become impossible. She highlighted that the Kaduna State Traditional Council was supposed to provide the necessary attestations, but they have not done so, leading to complications.

Asiya El-Rufai emphasized the fundamental rights guaranteed under Section 4 of the Nigerian Constitution, which includes the right to life, health, and interaction. She pointed out that the charges against her husband are bailable under Nigerian law, yet the High Court had previously denied bail, while the Federal High Court granted it under terms that are currently unattainable.
