El-Rufai Released from ICPC Custody After Mother's Death

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, was released from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) after the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt. El-Rufai had been detained since February 18, 2023, on allegations of financial misconduct related to a corruption case.

His son, Bashir El-Rufai, took to social media to express his views on the situation, labeling the detention as unlawful and illegitimate, and criticizing the ICPC as a corrupt agency. He referred to his father as a "great legend" and expressed gratitude for the support received by the family during this difficult time.

Bashir emphasized that they would not forget the challenges faced during this period, particularly in light of the circumstances surrounding his father's detention.
