ICPC Denies Harsh Treatment of Ex-Governor El-Rufai

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) refuted allegations regarding the treatment of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai during his detention. Claims surfaced online that El-Rufai was denied food, medical attention, and access to family members.

Moham Bello, son of the former governor, accused the ICPC of violating a court order that allowed unrestricted access to El-Rufai's doctor. The ICPC clarified that El-Rufai had not been denied food or medical care, stating that access control policies were in place for visitors from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM.

The agency noted that El-Rufai's family complied with these protocols and that a family member had delivered meals to him. The ICPC also confirmed that El-Rufai had been granted permission for medical visits, including to a dentist and ophthalmologist, and emphasized that security measures were standard practice for all detainees, regardless of their political status.
