ICPC Denies El-Rufai's Access Allegations During Detention

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) refuted claims made by Mohammed Bello, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, alleging that the agency denied El-Rufai access to food, medication, and family during his detention. Bello asserted via social media that the ICPC violated a court order permitting El-Rufai to meet with his physician and family members.

The ICPC clarified that access to its facilities is regulated by strict protocols, allowing visits from family and medical personnel only during designated hours. It noted that El-Rufai's wife, Aichat Bar, was allowed to deliver food on multiple occasions, contradicting claims of denied access.

The agency emphasized adherence to Nigerian law and international best practices, stating that it seeks to rectify any misleading narratives. The incident raised concerns about the treatment of high-profile detainees and the enforcement of security protocols within the commission.
