El-Rufai's Supporters Campaign for Justice in Washington

Supporters of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai have escalated their campaign against his continued detention by engaging an advocacy firm in Washington, D.C. The group, known as the El-Rufai Support Group Association (ERSGA), announced their efforts to press Nigeria's case with the U.S. government, Congress, and international stakeholders.

They argue that El-Rufai's situation reflects a deeper crisis threatening Nigeria's democratic institutions, particularly as the country approaches the 2027 general elections. Moham Salihu, speaking on behalf of ERSGA, emphasized the need for the international community to address concerns regarding due process and judicial independence in Nigeria.

The group warns that the treatment of El-Rufai is symptomatic of a broader political struggle that could undermine public confidence in the electoral process. They have filed regulatory documents with the U.S.

Department of State and plan to engage with various stakeholders, including pro-democracy institutions.
