Doctor Charged for Falsifying Medical Report for El-Rufai

Abubakar, an oncologist at National Hospital Abuja, is facing four counts of corruption filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). The charges allege that he knowingly issued a false medical report to mislead public officials regarding former Governor Nasir El-Rufai's bail application.

The ICPC's investigation revealed that the medical report, dated June 10, 2026, was not authorized by the hospital and was confirmed as fake by three medical doctors in the United States. The charges include providing false information with the intent to mislead, issuing a false report for unfair advantage, and creating a false document.

Raji Mahmud, the Chief Medical Director of National Hospital, is expected to testify that Abubakar issued the report without conducting the required medical examination. The case is pending in Kaduna State High Court, with the next hearing scheduled for February 2, 2026.
