Hajiya Umma El-Rufai Laid to Rest in Abuja Amid Tributes

Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, the mother of former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, was laid to rest in Abuja on Sunday after passing away on March 27 in Cairo, Egypt, due to a brief illness. Her burial took place at Gudu Cemetery, following Islamic rites.

The funeral attracted numerous prominent Nigerian leaders, including Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Minister of Transport Rotimi Amaechi, and former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, who joined traditional rulers and sympathizers in mourning her loss. They prayed for the repose of her soul and strength for the family.

Earlier, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani sent condolence messages, while Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, also expressed his sympathies. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar paid a personal visit to the family to offer his condolences.
