INEC Ex-Commissioner: Nigeria Not Ready for Real-Time Electronic Transmission of Election Results

Lecky highlighted the country's technological unreadiness for instant transmission of election results, particularly in the absence of electronic voting nationwide. His remarks come amidst the rejection of the electronic transmission of election results in the Senate.

The ongoing debate involves a subsection of the Electoral Act amendment bill that seeks to make electronic transmission of election results mandatory. Dr.

Lecky argued that instant transmission does not make sense without electronic voting, emphasizing the need for physical ballot counting. He dismissed arguments based on political party lines, asserting that Nigeria is not yet ready for electronic transmission of election results.
