FixPolitics Urges Lawmakers to Mandate E-Transmission

The non-governmental organization FixPolitics has called on Nigerian lawmakers to urgently amend the 2026 Electoral Act to make electronic transmission of election results mandatory. During a statement in Abuja, Executive Director Anthony Ubani highlighted the significant public opposition to the current legislation, which he described as outdated and detrimental to electoral integrity.

Ubani stressed that real-time electronic transmission is essential for safeguarding votes and reducing human interference, thereby building public confidence in the electoral process. He warned that failing to amend the law would leave a permanent question mark over the credibility of future elections in Nigeria, particularly as the nation approaches the 2027 elections.

Ubani urged lawmakers to take immediate action to restore mandatory electronic transmission, framing it as a non-negotiable requirement for the integrity of Nigerian votes and the health of the democracy.
